FINTRAC’s financial intelligence was recognized by the Ontario Provincial Police in project SOUTHAM, a 15-month investigation conducted in collaboration with York Regional Police, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the Canada Border Services Agency, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canada Revenue Agency. This investigation led to the arrest of 22 individuals who had been importing high volumes of cocaine into Canada for the purpose of trafficking, as well as participating in other criminal activities.
